The United Nations Youth Office is organizing the first-ever UN Youth Townhall from 8–10 December 2026 in Heidelberg, Germany. The event will bring together more than 1,000 young people, government representatives, UN agencies, civil society, entrepreneurs, researchers and other stakeholders to strengthen youth participation in global decision-making.
The Townhall aims to create a more inclusive platform where young people can engage directly with decision-makers and contribute to discussions on issues affecting their future.
The programme will feature roundtables, fireside chats, small-group discussions and interactive sessions, focusing on youth participation, collaboration and practical action.
The event welcomes young leaders, youth-led organizations and movements, entrepreneurs, innovators and researchers, along with representatives from governments, the UN, civil society, academia and the private sector.
The organizers are seeking diverse geographic representation, gender balance and participation from underrepresented youth communities.
A limited number of funding opportunities are available for young people through an open application call. Interested applicants should review the official eligibility and application guidance before applying.
Young people interested in participating can apply through the official UN Youth Office application process.
The UN Youth Townhall provides an opportunity to connect with global youth leaders, engage with policymakers, build international networks and contribute to discussions shaping the future of youth participation in global decision-making.
